PATH2DEA – Paving the Way towards Digitalisation Enabling Agroecology for European Farming Systems

PATH2DEA aims to accelerate the transition to sustainable agriculture by harnessing the power of digital technologies tailored to farmers’ needs. By engaging directly with farmers, agri-food stakeholders, and six Showcase farms across diverse European regions, the project promotes the practical adoption of digital tools in agroecological farming. The main outcomes include an Open Source Repository of user-oriented digital solutions with decision support functionalities, and a Research & Innovation Roadmap to guide the digital agroecology transition.

AEDIT, together with SSSA, manages a showcase of small and low-input (or organic) olive farms. The showcased digital solution is Poderi, an app with DSSs that supports sustainable practices in olive growing—such as fertilization, irrigation, and crop protection—and in-field monitoring. The farms test Poderi to apply agroecological approaches to pest control and resource management.

PATH2DEA is co-funded by the European Union (Grant no. 101060789) and the Swiss State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI) (Grant no. 22.00535).

ATLAS

ATLAS – Agricultural interoperability and analysis system. The goal of ATLAS (Horizon H2020 project) is to achieve a new level of interoperability of agricultural machines, sensors and data services.

AEDIT, as one of the winners of the ATLAS 2nd Open Call within the challenge “weed and pest control”, developed DIGI-PEST (Digital tool for pest monitoring and management), a data-driven service to optimize the use of pesticides supporting the application of IPM strategies in agriculture.
DIGI-PEST provides Decision Support Systems (DSSs) for managing the main pests and diseases of olive, grapevine and maize, with early warning and risk assessment systems. DIGI-PEST has been designed to guarantee the interoperability and the integration with the ATLAS ecosystem.

FAIRshare

FAIRshare (Farm Advisory Digital Innovation Tools Realised and Shared) project is aimed at supporting farm advisors to use Digital Advisory Tools and Services (DATS) to increase the productivity and the sustainability of agriculture.
AEDIT, as partner of FAIRshare, is the leader of the User Case “Tuscany Living Lab to support a wider adoption of sustainable crop management DATS”, focused on olive growing.
The aim of the Tuscany Living Lab is to develop an App, Poderi, with advisors as co-creators, to promote sustainable olive growing.
Poderi combines DSSs for agronomic practices (pest control, irrigation, fertilisation), and tools for field monitoring and for sharing farm information among farmers and advisors.Barra_FAIRshare_H2020
